The Lands of Delcrys

Delcrys overview map

The continent of Delcrys is made up of three independently-governed kingdoms: Yorevale, Untermarch, and Sambria. The three kingdoms are said to have a long history of political and economic struggle.

The story begins in the city of Crossroads, located in the kingdom of Yorevale, positioned centrally, near the borders of the kingdoms of Untermarch to the East and Sambria to the south.

Yorevale

  • Located in the NW of Delcrys
  • Motto is "The Wisdom of the Ages"

Yorevale is the oldest kingdom of Delcrys, and is also colloquially known as "old land" or "green kingdom". It is known for being culturally advanced, with universities, farmland, and the greatest cities on the continent bringing the kingdom fame. The Yores are known for their skills in construction, and so constructed "humongous walls" to protect them from potential attack by their eastern neighbours, the Untermarch.

Untermarch

  • Located in the NE of Delcrys
  • Motto is "Vitrue and Honor"

Untermarch is the youngest kingdom of Delcrys. It is known primarily for its military prowess and Knight Orders. The kingdom is largely conservative and militaristic, building numerous strongholds throughout the land. Following an extensive country-wide food shortage, Untermarch frequently attempted to aggressively conquer the fertile lands in the neighbouring country of Yorevale. These recurring wars have led to the countries of Yorevale and Untermarch being bitter rivals.

Sambria

  • Located in the South of Delcrys
  • Motto is "Gleam of the South"

The kingdom of Sambria was formed from a rich history of migrant refugees and runaways, most fleeing from Yorevale for political or economic refuge from the wars that ravaged the lands of Delcrys. Sambrian inhabitants embraced seafaring exploration, discovering and settling overseas lands over time. While kingdom in name, Sambria largely operates as a merchant republic, flourishing from the wealth and influence that came from established trade routes. The humble beginnings and cultural diversity of inhabitants have shaped Sambrian culture as rich, unique and exotic in the eyes of the Delcrys people.
